How does a headphones work
In our daily life, music plays an important role and we
see many of them are fond of listening to their favorite songs. Equally we know
we cannot enjoy music in our moving transport because of the noises produced by
the train, planes, and vehicles. In this cases, headphones plays a significant
part.
Ever wondered how
headphones work?
And then let’s get a closer look at how does headphones
work?
Headphones are the minimized loudspeakers that are fitted
into your ears.
Headphones work in similar a fashion of loud speaker working,
but the primary divergence is the size of the headphone and the loudspeaker. The
loudspeaker has to set all the air in the room to move to make you hear
something produced by a loudspeaker. But when it comes to the case of headphones,
the speaker only has to move the volume of air in between the speaker and the
ear canal. This is the reason why it's so small and discrete.
When you come to the large headphones, there are two loudspeakers
mounted on a strap that holds your head. Earbuds also works in the similar
manner, the magnet, a helix of wire and the diaphragm cone that produces sound
is compressed to a very small in size.
Speaker built in enclosures to amplify your sounds and
manage safe from harm. And you can view the enclosures having holes to run the
air freely in and out to get quality sound out of them. This also applies for
earbuds and headphones. Primarily there are two types of headphones
1. Closed-back headphones
2. Open-Back Headphones
Closed-back headphones are sealed back of the speaker so
no sound escapes the headphones or leaks from the outside world into the
headphones. When it comes to open-back headphones they are open to the air in front
and back as well.
How do earbuds works?
After dismantling you can examine the wires going through
the main sheath to the whorl, and then there needs to be two wires to form a
complete lap one for conducting the current from the stereo into the helix and
the other one to channel it backward once more.
The plastic case has holes that let you sound to enter
your ear. And behind the plastic you can find a cone shaped and it is flattish
and transparent disc made out of very thin and flexible plastic and you can
feel the tiny metal coil attached to it.
These all parts combined makes your earbuds
Back to case, front case, seal, wires, magnet, coil, transparent
plastic cone.
Wires are responsible for carrying the currents in the
coil that is from the stereo to the speaker and back again. The permanent
magnet at the rear of the speaker plays a vital role in and is the densest part
of Earbud and the coil it acts as an electromagnet when electricity runs
through it. And in the end the plastic cone, which produces sound when struck.
